When Wiley first approached me about writing Sex Magick For Dummies, I laughed.

Like many people, I grew up associating the For Dummies series with learning how to use an old PC computer, or understanding taxes or Shakespeare. Sex magic was not exactly the topic I expected to see on that familiar yellow-and-black bookshelf. However, publishing is changing, and so is the For Dummies brand. Over the past few years, Wiley has expanded the series to include subjects that are culturally relevant, practical, and often underserved. When they approached me about bringing my work, research, and perspective to what I believe is one of the most misunderstood topics in modern spirituality, I immediately seized the opportunity.

Sex magic is one of those subjects that exists in a strange place. People are fascinated by it, intimidated by it, curious about it, but completely misinformed about it.

For some people , the phrase conjures images of sensational stories. For others, it has been reduced to social media aesthetics, and vague fluffy spiritual advice, or just the idea that simply lighting a candle and setting an intention somehow constitutes a complete practice.

The reality is that sex magic is more nuanced. At its core, sex magic is a study of intention, desire, embodiment, symbolism, ritual, personal power, and transformation. It exists within a long history of spiritual traditions, esoteric practices, folk beliefs, and magical systems that have attempted to understand the relationship between the body, consciousness, pleasure, creativity, and manifestation.

Yet despite growing public interest in spirituality, very few resources explore this topic in a way that is both accessible and grounded. Which is where my book comes in and hat is exactly why I said yes.

I wanted to create a guide I wish I had when I first began studying these traditions. A book that welcomes readers without talking down to them like most outdated and pretentious adademica . I wanted a book that respects both curiosity and complexity. I wanted to explore the history, ethics, symbolism, myths, misconceptions, and practical applications of sex magic without the fearmongering, or sensationalism that often surrounds the subject.

This is not a book about shock value, and it’s certainly not filled with generic spiritual clichés.

Instead, it is an invitation to look deeper at one of the most taboo and misunderstood areas of magical practice and ask better questions about pleasure, desire, intimacy, personal sovereignty, and spiritual power.

Writing this book has been one of the most exciting projects of my career, and I am incredibly grateful to Wiley for trusting me with it.
