Witch Tips

Feelings are not facts, and facts don’t necessarily change your feels. We humans are not machines – we’re animals, and we’re not meant to always be reasonable. Feelings and emotions are like tinted lenses – they color what you see. Here’s the kicker, my love: your perceptions are not the center of the Universe; they’re the center of your Universe

Feeling chill isn't equal to being on the right path, and suffering doesn’t mean you're off track.

This week, it’s time for an internal check-in and some deep emotional integration. That will mean different things to different folks, but what’s Universal about it is that we’re all feeling extra caught up in our own perspective right about now. Remember that your feels, no matter how compelling they are, should not replace data. And when making personal choices, remember that the data, no matter how comprehensive it is, shouldn’t completely override your feelings. It’s about balance.

2017 was an insane ride, and the astrology of ’18 doesn’t promise much of a break. Commit to rooting out the ways that you are unkind to yourself and others. Confront your double standards, your apathy, and the ways that you submit to fear. This is a time when you can align yourself with your greatest potential, but as the maxim goes, “you need to feel it to heal it,” my love. Don’t recoil from the pain of healing. Own it when you’re languishing in a rut, and try to do small things to pull yourself out of it every day that you can. Be generous with your kindness, your care, and your resources.

Hate is like glue – it binds you to the object of your disgust.

Love is the agent of transformation that you need. It’s not enough to hate Nazis; you have to love humans. It’s not enough to despise your abusive ex; you must love yourself enough to move on. The power of feeling is so great that it shouldn’t go unchecked. This is the perfect time to get honest with yourself about where you’re at and infuse it with kindness, patience, and love, and commit to acting from that place.

Space clearing is an essential component to maintaining spiritual health and energetic boundaries. Hummingbird Sage (also known as the true black sage) pulls your consciousness towards other realms. It is also a wonderful  for purification. This is a great tool for journeying, Path-working, and Dream Work.  The smell of hummingbird sage is less pungent than that of white sage, but you will want to use the White Sage to bring you back.

March 21-April 19

It’s time to do what you do best and get ‘er done, Aries. If you’ve been putting things off, this week you’re on call to step up and finish it off. The only caveat is that this isn’t a great time for taking on new projects, unless you have literally nothing outstanding on your to-do list. Clear your inbox, make good on your debts, and clean out your closet. It’s time to wrap it up so you can make room for something new, even if you aren’t sure what’s next, my love.

April 20-May 20

This week, you're at risk of weaving such an idealistic situation in your mind that you’ll be disappointed by the perfectly chill reality in front of you. Your desire to be happy and secure in your life is healthy and inspired. Your impulse to rush to the part where you’re there is more driven by fear than it is by faith in your own success. Be where you’re at, Taurus, without jumping to conclusions or rushing your progress. If you allow yourself to be surprised by your life, you just may like what you see.

May 21-June 21

Don’t confuse “it’s hard” with “I can’t,” Twin Star. Freedom is not just about your material circumstances. True freedom has to start within. This week, your task is to manage where you let your thoughts roam. When you feed ideas that keep you stuck, it’s like you’re sitting in a cage with no lock. Just because you’re able to change the flow of your attention, that doesn’t make it easy to execute, but this is the time to really try. Make sure that your actions reflect the wisdom you’ve accumulated over time, my love.

June 22-July 22

You’re moving through some deep terrain, but the hardest work is behind you, my love. You’ve got the information you need, and as long as you’re willing to do the work, the runway is clear for takeoff, Pilot. If you’ve been going through a rough time, this week may offer you a break; if things have been going your way, it’s likely to look more like a breakthrough. You don’t need for things to feel perfect for them to be going in the perfect direction, Moonchild.

July 23-Aug. 22

When your head is full of too much, you can no longer have real perspective. This week is all about returning to center and realigning with your sense of purpose, Leo. You can get far if you prioritize finding your heart’s will and temper that info with a grounded assessment of your situations. This is not the time to act in a vacuum; you need people, so try not tot alienate yourself from them. If you need some space, take it with kindness, my love.

Aug. 23-Sept. 22

There’s no “right answer,” Virgo. There’s just action and consequence. When you are willing to honor your truth, you can refer back to your insides and assess whether a thing is right for you, but that doesn’t make it black and white. This is the wrong time to look outside of yourself for answers, Virgo. The pain that you’re coping with now is trying to nudge you to deepen your relationship to yourself. You may have to let go of something that’s not working for you this week. Be willing to do that if it allows you to better hold on to yourself.

Sept. 23-Oct. 22

You officially don’t need to take on anyone else’s drama this week, Libra. To paraphrase Ricky Gervais, just because a person is offended doesn’t mean that they’re right. It’s not important that you take sides or invest in people’s versions of the story. If you’re trying to be a source of support, you can simply be a witness without getting involved. If you're the one with the commotion going on, try to process it without requiring others to pick teams.

Oct. 23-Nov. 21

Instead of changing other people, it’s time to change yourself. You don’t need to shift everything at once, Scorpio, but you do need to start with your attitudes. Try walking a different way to work, carrying your bag on a different shoulder, or holding your phone in a different hand. The point is to interrupt your habits to see what new pathways organically emerge. You’re growing; don’t let routine or the status quo get in the way of your potential.

Nov. 22-Dec. 21

Whatever you do, it’s important that you change. If you’re ready to let go but it can’t be of just of anything – be honest with yourself about what you’ve outgrown. You don’t need to know what comes next in order to be doing the right thing in the here and now. Don’t let yourself get caught up in what you presume other people are thinking about you or in what they’re doing with their life. Everyone develops at their own rate, and feeling bad about your progress will only slow you down. In a game of rock-paper-scissors, gratitude always beats fear, my love.

Dec. 22-Jan. 19

If you don’t take a balanced approach to self-care, you’re likely to end up so overwhelmed this week that you’ll feel disempowered to even cope. You’re changing, Capricorn, and while it’s not clear yet if it’s all unicorns and rainbows, what is clear is that you want to be happy and aren’t always sure about how to get there. Be gentle with yourself as you parse it out; you may need to let some things go in order to make room for something bigger and better. Go with the flow of your life, sweet one.

Jan. 20-Feb. 18

You’re moving through some very intense emotions these days, and that’s no Aquarius’s favorite thing to do. The good news is that you’ve started to see some progress, and this week you’re likely to build a supportive foundation of hope. The fun thing about life is that you have free will (not to be confused with control); use it to maintain a grateful and motivated attitude in the face of your greatest hopes and fears, my love.

Feb. 19-March 20

Too much of even the best of things still ends up feeling like too much, Pisces. This week you would do best to moderate yourself. It’s important that you get down time so that you can identify how you actually feel about the progress you’re making as well as avoid getting caught up in your petty reactions and more fearful thoughts. You’re on the right path, and now your job is to take care of yourself and the things you value. Don’t second guess yourself, Puppy.
