Leo New Moon 2025: Manifest Bold Desires, Reclaim Your Power, and Light Up Your Life

Astrology by Lisa Stardust

The New Moon in Leo, which occurs on July 24 at 12:11 PM PT and 3:11 PM ET, marks the beginning of a fresh cycle. In the sign of Leo, this luminary opposes Pluto retrograde in Aquarius, connecting softly with Saturn and Neptune retrograde in Aries and Uranus in Gemini. It’s a time for us to embrace our passionate thoughts and to take action around manifesting our dreams.

Pluto retrograde creates power struggles and the need to dominate or control situations. The flip side is that we can use the energy to heal, especially with the presence of Neptune, if we acknowledge our emotional triggers and soothe them by self-reflection. Saturn retrograde offers a stabilizing force that can anchor our feelings through understanding. Uranus encourages us to fight for what we want and believe to be true on a soulful level.

The day before the New Moon, on July 23, Venus in Gemini and Mars in Virgo square off, urging us to embrace others. This transit isn’t bad; it just adds a tinge of passion and gusto toward aligning us with others. It also heightens our desires and lusty sentiments. The caveat is that we may be impulsive in expressing ourselves, which means we shouldn’t overcommit and overestimate ourselves and those in our orbit. Try to stay grounded.

Mercury’s planetary backspin in Leo isn’t helping us communicate effectively. The best advice is to think before saying hurtful words. Even though people may not state their feelings, resentments can be held inside and pop off without notice. The only way to navigate the fervid energy is to take a step back and to refocus on the innermost desires. Don’t get caught up in jealousies or methods that encourage the domination of others’ spirits.

How to Work with the Taurus New Moon (April 27, 2025) for Healing + Power

Astrology by Lisa Stardust

The transformative New Moon in Taurus occurs on April 27 at 12:31 PM Pacific and 3:31 PM Eastern time. This lunation is going to shake up our lives for good if we allow it to. The New Moon is considered a supermoon because the Moon will be in apogee to the Earth, meaning it will be in a close alignment to our planet. However, we won't be able to see its brightness because New Moons are also Dark Moons, so their glow is hidden in the sky.

The New Moon aspects the planets Mars in Leo and Pluto in Aquarius, emotionally heightening the opposition that these two planets shared the previous day, on April 26. They create a fixed T-square with these three planets in a tight orb, which can be a fraught connection. As a result, power struggles, dramatic responses, and intense sentiments will be at play throughout the day, but we will be able to work through them in time and create better dynamics with people, including ourselves.

Black Moon Lilith and the asteroid Lilith are both in Scorpio, completing a fixed Grand Cross in the cosmos. The taboo aspects of our personalities want to come out and motivate us to rebel against the status quo. It’s time to take back our rights and fight for our ideology. In the process, we’ll become free of the chains holding us back and programming our minds to believe we shouldn’t strive for more. Well, that stops now! As of now, we aren’t going to be subservient. We are taking charge.

We are expressing our repressed feelings, which are bubbling to the surface. It’s good to let out our inner emotions to allow ourselves to heal. This cathartic process ultimately leads to growth and evolution within ourselves and others in time. Since the New Moon is in Taurus, a zodiac sign that is slow to make changes, we will take baby steps to augment our lives. As long as we are putting in the effort and living our truth, we are already ahead in the game.

Rooted Reflections

Pre-Ritual Journal Prompts for the Taurus New Moon

Before casting spells or setting intentions, come back to your body. Taurus is ruled by Venus and the element of Earth. It speaks through sensation, stillness, and self-worth. Begin by writing.

Ask yourself:

  • What stories about my worth have I inherited or internalized?

  • Where in my life am I staying “grounded” in fear instead of power?

  • What have I been trained to repress in order to be accepted?

  • What would it feel like to root into my own value?

  • What slow, sensual practices help me return to myself

Cancer New Moon 2024

New Moon in Cancer

Astrology by Lisa Stardust

The summer’s first New Moon falls in the water sign Cancer and commences on July 5th at 3:57 PM PT/6:57 PM ET. The New Moon begins the lunar cycle, which resets monthly in a different zodiac sign. This is a time of fresh starts, new beginnings, introspection, and reflection as we grow in the weeks ahead due to the seeds we plant under the lunation.

The Cancer New Moon aspects Mars in Taurus, Saturn retrograde in Pisces, and squares the lunar Nodes of Destiny in the Aries-Libra axis. Mars in Taurus is pushing us to take the high road and focus on romantic sentiments, while Saturn retrograde teaches us the importance of slowing down. The Nodes of Destiny want us to decide how to invest our energy in the weeks ahead and urge us to find a balance in life. It’s vital to take a step back and focus on healing our hearts and spirit — especially with the presence of the asteroids Ceres in Capricorn (who's a maternal influence), Pallas in Scorpio (the wisdom within us), and Juno in Virgo (the asteroid who defines fairness).

The fixed stars Sirius and Canopus want us to move into a safe space that helps us mend the past. Embracing and caring for the shadowy parts of our personality can allow us to feel unconditional love for ourselves. So, saying positive affirmations throughout the day is vital to lift our hearts. Also, give yourself a big hug because you deserve it — most notably from yourself. The Sabian symbol that aligns with the New Moon is “Two Dutch Children Talking To Each Other, Exchanging Their Knowledge.” Share personal triumphs and stories to let others learn from our experiences. This will create a bond with those we care about and give us the space to be heard and seen without judgment.

New Moon In Cancer Ritual

Written by Bri Luna

As we embrace the gentle and nurturing energy of the Cancer New Moon, it is the perfect time to tune into our emotional depths and set intentions for self-care and healing.

Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths, centering yourself in the present moment. Visualize the moon's soft and healing light enveloping you. Set intentions for self-care, emotional healing, and nurturing your inner self during this lunar cycle.

Light a white or silver candle to represent the Cancer zodiac sign. White symbolizes purity and cleansing, while silver represents the moon's energy. As you light the candle, affirm your intentions for emotional healing and self-nurturing.

Take a moment to reflect on your emotions, desires, and dreams. Write them down in a journal, expressing yourself freely and authentically. Use this as an opportunity to delve into your emotional depths and gain clarity on what needs nurturing and healing in your life.
