The final Full Moon of spring is a Blue Moon and she is not going out quietly!

On May 31 at 1:45 AM Pacific / 4:45 AM Eastern, the Blue Moon in Sagittarius rises dazzling amongst the stars, promising excitement and causing a commotion. This is a lunation that wants you loud, free, and unapologetically yourself. Sagittarius energy doesn't do small or subtle — it does expansive, it does honest, and it does now. The thrilling energy of this Full Moon inspires and motivates us to stop performing and start being authentic.

What Makes This Blue Moon So Rare?

You've heard the phrase "once in a Blue Moon" — this is exactly what that means. A calendrical Blue Moon is the second Full Moon within the same calendar month, and they don't happen often. The first Full Moon of May occurred on May 1 in Scorpio…deep, private, and transformative. Now we close out the month with this Sagittarius Blue Moon, and the contrast between those two energies tells the whole story of what May has been asking of us: go inward, excavate what's true, and then say it out loud.

This is a second chance. A rare one. Whatever you were working on, releasing, or calling in at the Scorpio Full Moon earlier this month, this Blue Moon gives you another window to enchant your life with the clarity and knowledge that the Moon's glow illuminates. Don't waste it.

It's worth noting that this is also a micromoon, meaning the Moon is slightly farther from Earth in its orbit and appears a little smaller in the sky. Don't let that fool you. The size of the Moon has nothing to do with the size of the feelings it stirs. All of the cosmic energies active right now will push your emotions to take flight whether you're ready or not.

The Tension in the Sky: Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto

Nothing about this Blue Moon is simple, and the planets aren't pretending otherwise.

Saturn in Aries is the stern voice in the room telling you to hold it together, to be disciplined, to not let your emotions run the show. Saturn wants structure. Saturn wants restraint. It's the part of you that says "be careful what you say, you can't take it back."

And then there's Neptune in Aries, sitting right next to Saturn and saying the exact opposite. Neptune wants you to dive in headfirst. It wants you to feel everything, to surrender to the wave, to trust what you sense even when you can't prove it. Neptune doesn't care about being careful — it cares about being real.

Meanwhile, Pluto retrograde in Aquarius offers something quieter — a restorative undercurrent beneath all the noise. But the gift on the other side of that rollercoaster is clarity , clarity about what needs to heal, what needs to be released, and what you've been carrying that was never yours to hold. Our wounds and fears will surface under this Full Moon's light. That's not a threat. That's an invitation. You can mend what you're willing to look at.

The Asteroids: Juno, Pallas, and Vesta Bring the Heat

The asteroids active during this lunation add another layer of fire to an already charged sky.

Juno in Aquarius is demanding equality — in your relationships, in your communities, in the way you are seen and treated. If something in your life has felt fundamentally unfair, Juno is amplifying that feeling right now and asking you what you're going to do about it.

Pallas in Aries is the strategist and the warrior. She doesn't just identify the problem — she figures out how to solve it. Under this Full Moon, you may find yourself stepping into a role you weren't expecting, advocating for yourself or for someone else who doesn't yet have the words or the courage.

Vesta in Aries brings the sacred flame of self-empowerment. Vesta is devotion — but under Aries, that devotion is turned inward. This is about honoring your own fire. Your own calling. The thing you keep putting on the back burner because everyone else's needs feel more urgent.

Together, these three create a powerful current of passion and purpose. You may find yourself fighting for something that matters deeply to you. The caveat is that compromise will be challenging under this sky — everyone is feeling strongly, and everyone thinks they're right. The key is to assert your truth with enough warmth that people can actually hear you. You catch more bees with honey. Lead with conviction, but don't forget your humanity.

Antares: The Heart of the Scorpion

The fixed star Antares — known as the Heart of the Scorpion — is prominent during this Full Moon, and its message is clear: success is available, but not without a fight. Antares is one of the brightest stars in the sky, a star of ambition, intensity, and transformation. It doesn't promise an easy path. It promises a meaningful one.

If you've been working toward something and it feels like the resistance keeps coming — keep going. Antares says the breakthrough is on the other side of the struggle, not before it.

How to Work With This Blue Moon?

This is a powerful night for:

Release rituals : write down what you are done carrying and burn it, bury it, or let it go under the Full Moon's light

Truth-telling: have the conversation you've been avoiding, write the letter you haven't sent, say the thing out loud that you've only said in your head

Setting a freedom intention: Sagittarius rules expansion, travel, philosophy, and liberation. What does freedom look like for you right now? Set an intention around it.

Candle work : a blue or purple candle dressed with frankincense or sage oil, lit under the Full Moon with your intention spoken clearly into the flame
