September 2025 Solar Eclipse in Virgo: Meaning, Astrology, and Ritual Guidebook

The last eclipse of 2025 occurs on September 21 at 12:54 PM Pacific Time and 3:54 PM Eastern Time. The partial solar eclipse in Virgo will create a crescent moon shape in the sky because part of the Moon will be illuminated by the Sun. This eclipse is still like every other one; it is intense in nature and brings our fate to fruition.
The solar eclipse aligns with the South Node of Destiny in Virgo, which means we will release anything or anyone that no longer aligns with our soul’s purpose, desires, and needs. It’s always hard to let go of the past, especially when so many memories and feelings are attached to it. However, if we don't start the process, the cosmos will do so theatrically, so preparing ourselves to relinquish outdated views and perspectives is essential. It’s not that we surrender to the universe; we are trying to work with the energies.
Eclipses bring matters to light that have been repressed, and this lunation is urging us to be honest by freeing ourselves from the old and moving into newness. Since the eclipse falls at a late degree of Virgo, we may feel we must rush the process. With Saturn retrograde in Pisces in opposition to the eclipse, we must transform our lives responsibly. Work with the planets! Be kind to someone you’re breaking up with. Leave a job on good terms. Do not treat others with a lack of respect because karma will come for you.
The eclipse's effects will come for you no matter what sign you are. Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) will feel it the most, making them focus on family matters, sense of self, career, and partnerships. They are looking for emotional security, which may not be possible at this time because the eclipse is making everything seem like it’s in flux.
The following day, the autumnal equinox ushers in a new season and the Sun moves into Libra, creating balance and harmony. Earlier on, action planet Mars dives into Scorpio, pushing us to embrace our passions and desires — so tread lightly, because the beginning of fall compounded by the solar eclipse is bringing rock and roll energy.
