5 Planets Are Retrograde This Summer—Here’s What You Need to Know

Astrology by Lisa Stardust

Another summer full of retrogrades is upon us. The first planet to go retrograde is Pluto, which began in the spring, and the last planet to retrograde is Uranus. From Neptune to Mercury, we will experience the cosmic effects of these planetary backspins, allowing us to rethink our desires and motives.

Pluto Retrograde in Aquarius

Dates: May 4 to October 13

Pluto retrograde in Aquarius is a time when we reassess our desires and plans for the future. Understanding that our expectations from the community aren’t what we hoped for will allow us to focus on how we can evolve as individuals. Past imbalances and power struggles in relationships will resurface, but we’ll have an easier time resolving them.

Neptune Retrograde in Aries and Pisces

Dates: July 4 to December 10

Our intuition and experiences will be more intense, allowing us to embrace our emotions and senses. Focusing on what seems true to us as individuals is essential, especially on October 22, when Neptune moonwalks into Pisces, which takes us to the beginning of March. The dreams or visions from March 2025 are being reimagined, so put your energy into them.

Saturn Retrograde in Aries and Pisces

Dates: July 13 to November 27

Foundations are shifting and changing during this planetary backspin, urging us to focus on elevating our status (personally and professionally). Taking steps toward commitment seems like the right move, and we’ll do so with ease. Saturn retrogrades into Pisces on September 1, accessing the same timeline from May 2025, asking us to redefine boundaries and not to second-guess ourselves.

Mercury Retrograde in Leo

Dates: July 18 to August 11

Mercury retrograde in Leo is making our romantic ventures and egos fragile. At this point, we’ll want to spend our time giving ourselves TLC and self-care. Understanding that it’s ok to put ourselves first on July 31, when the Sun and Mercury link up and create an aspect called “cazimi,” adds strength and depth to our auras and overall well-being. As always, be careful with travel, communication, and technological devices.

Uranus Retrograde in Gemini and Taurus

Dates: September 6 to February 3, 2026

Uranus retrograde in Gemini will make us restless, as we re-evaluate outdated structures. The moment to grow is now, since we’ll find out our truest ideals and values. Communication might be confusing, so be clear when expressing yourself. Uranus re-enters Taurus on November 7, pushing us to tend to our finances, homefront, and work matters.
