FULL MOON IN GEMINI

What happens during a full moon?

The Sun and Moon oppose each other in the sky, while the Earth resides in between the two planets. The juxtaposition and position of the planets create a glowing effect on the Moon that makes it look brighter than ever from the Earth’s perspective.

What does it represent?

The full moon represents the culmination of the 30-day lunar cycle. All of the projects that we’ve been working on for the past month reach an ending or hit a pivotal turning point. Change and growth have happened. Now is the time to reflect and enjoy the fruits of our labors.

When does December’s full Moon in Gemini occur?

The full moon occurs on December 18, at 8:36 p.m. PT and 11:36 p.m. ET.

Here's where the Cold Moon gets its nickname.

This is the full moon that’s closest to the winter solstice, the temperatures shift and cool down as we prepare for shorter daylight hours. It’s the beginning of the colder months of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

What does the full moon in Gemini mean, astrologically speaking?

This is the luckiest lumination of the year! The Full Moon in Gemini will connect with the fortunate planet, who’s currently in Aquarius. This will bring good energy and an expansion of the mind. It’s a wonderful time to connect with others and express what’s in our hearts. Earlier in the day, the moon will square off with Neptune, causing exhaustion, confusion, and anxiety. It’s opening our eyes to things we haven’t seen before. The full moon gives us the ultimate clarity and squashes our worries or fears by exposing the truth. The following day, Venus retrograde commences and lasts until January 29, making all relationships feel like extra work. Therefore, this is the last chance we’ll have to get it right for a while.

What rituals should you do during the full moon?

The astrological practice of Moon mapping ascribes rituals to each of the Moon's eight phases. Here are a few rituals to consider trying out during December 18’s full Moon.

  • Take a bath with Epsom salt with a zest of lemon and a few twigs of mint. You can also add a dash of Florida water if you’re wanting to do a complete detox. This will help us be more mindful and calm in the days ahead.

  • Write a list of all the sentiments you’re wanting to say. You can even phrase this as a letter (one that you’re not going to send) and state your feelings without holding back.

  • This is a wonderful time to charge your crystals and tarot cards, as well as other divination tools under the moon’s luminous light to cleanse and recharge them with vitality.

  • Place a bowl or sachet of basil under your bed to welcome in abundance and prosperity.

  • Take a Rose of Jericho and put it in a bowl of water. Let it unfold and bring you luck, wealth, and positivity as it blossoms.
